The Adventure Begins Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006 Sanxenxo, November 4, 2005 Saturday, November 5th will mark the start of the Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006 in Sanxenxo, Spain. The in-port race will begin at 1pm in the port of Sanxenxo (Pontevedra). The winner will be awarded the first 3 and ? points of the race. Each of the seven participating boats participating in the Volvo Ocean Race is allowed to bring a special guest on board to accompany the team during the in-port racing. The Black Pearl, the racing vessel resulting from a unique film marketing partnership between Buena Vista International and Volvo Ocean Race which will help promote the upcoming film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, is honored to have on board the Infanta Doña Cristina of Spain, -- a great fan of sailboat racing herself. "We are extremely honored that the Infanta Doña Cristina is joining us to begin what promises to be a very exciting, high-seas adventure", said Javier Vasallo, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Buena Vista International, the international film distribution arm of The Walt Disney Company in Iberia. "This is the first time Disney is participating in this fabulous sporting adventure, and we are thrilled it is all commencing here in Spain". The Pirates of the Caribbean team is skippered by renowned sailor Paul Cayard, past winner of the Volvo Ocean Race. He is accompanied by an international crew of highly experienced sailors. The Volvo Ocean Race will leave from Vigo, Spain on November 12th and travel to 10 ports over 8 months: Vigo, Spain; Cape Town; Melbourne, Wellington, Rio de Janeiro, Baltimore, New York; Portsmouth, Rotterdam and finish in Gothenburg. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest premieres in Spain on August 11, 2006.
