SCHIFFINI MARINE state of the art galleys for luxury yachts
Merit for the international success of Italian production in the
luxury yachts sector must certainly go to our shipyards. However, also
involved and achieving success is a series of firms that contribute to
making Italian luxury yachts more and more beautiful and desirable.
The overall standards achieved for our yachts, in fact, depend on a
whole range of resources, particularly concerning fittings and
equipment, that contribute to the characterisation of these boats in
terms of both quality and design.
An example is Schiffini Mobili Cucine S.p.A., historical and renowned
producers of modular kitchens for the domestic environment which for
some years now, through its division Schiffini Marine, has been
collaborating with the most important Italian builders of large boats:
Azimut/Benetti, Sanlorenzo, Baglietto etc. For luxury yachts they
produce top quality galleys, certainly appreciated by yacht-owners for
their design but also approved by the crews for their functionality,
toughness and complete range of accessories. The strong point of the
present production of galleys for luxury yachts is a revolutionary
system of constructing the "hulls" of the furniture.
Called the ALSystem, it is one of a kind and involves the use of
structures entirely produced in natural anodised aluminium with
various components assembled mechanically.
As well as being unquestionably light, ALSystem has several other
important advantages which make it a really avant-garde product: the
structure is completely devoid of materials degradable through the
time and is extremely hygienic, non-toxic, waterproof, fire-resistant
and has an almost unlimited life.
Designed by great architects and designers like Vico Magistretti, with
whom Schiffini has worked since 1965, these special galleys are
produced by ultra-modern production processes such as CAD-CAM
computerised technology which, as well as applying maximum precision
to workmanship, with zero tolerance, guarantees personalization for
all the elements produced so that each galley is really custom-made
for each boat.
This article on the topic was prompted by the design of a new galley
made following the indications of the architect Paszkowski, who is
about to fit out a new 42 metre Baglietto.
