DEVONPORT MIRAGE 78M CONCEPT

The Bjorn Johansson Design workshop was responsible for the streamlined, almost sporty design of the new Devonport 78- metre motor yacht, with its wealth of refined, innovative detail. The first public renderings at the recent shows in Munich, Fort Lauderdale and Dubai met with great success, illustrating how the yacht and its interior layout will be when completed. Mirage, for this is its name, has an external design that is the result of intense study at the project stage aimed at giving the overall appearance a sporty look, with a side view characterised by the interweaving of the deck structures, that come together harmoniously to create the full beam bow. The considerable size of Mirage has made spacious interiors possible throughout its four decks with ceilings measuring up to five metres. The guests' quarters on the lower deck offer no less than six VIP suites and two twin cabins, all with en suite bathroom, while the crew's quarters are in the stern, with cabins having private bathrooms, a galley, anteroom, service room and spacious salon. The hangar astern offers considerable space, with room for up to four tenders. Just to give some idea of what we mean by considerable space, the plan for the garage interior includes a RIB with centre console, a walk around boat, a runabout and no less than four jet skis. The main deck offers another VIP suite with large private bathroom and anteroom, as well as a roomy dining area and an enormous saloon with numerous comfortable seating solutions. Outside, the main deck is characterised by the cockpit, from which two stairways wrap around the transom and lead to the stern bridge. On the upper deck we have the owner's master suite isolated in the bow area, furnished with a centrally placed double bed, double bathroom, relaxation area and two large dressing rooms. This private area for the owner enjoys three innovative windows along the width of the ceiling from one wall to another, illuminating the whole room with warm sunlight. The remaining covered area on this deck includes a large dining area and a piano bar complete with piano. Outside on the stern extension of the structure there is a spacious terrace, while in the bows we find another tender with its own davit. The fourth deck has the command station astern with panoramic view and complete, modern instrumentation. Again on this deck we have the skipper's cabin and a Jacuzzi tub that uses mineral spring water. The designer tells us that in amongst all this luxury there will also be room for an unusual glass-bottomed swimming pool.
