The Dutch boatyard Moonen Shipyards, has started to build a new 96 foot motor-yacht, the top of the range model of a new series of cruisers born in 2001 with the launch of the 72 footer "Lady Jalinka". Moonen 96 is the result of a project by René van der Velden, in collaboration with Stolk Marinecs for the naval architecture and Alessandra Negrato for the interior design, with a grade A steel hull bottom and aluminium upper works. The project develops over four decks plus flying bridge, with the sleeping area for guests and crew on the lower deck, divided by the large engine room. Guests have at their disposal a suite with private bathroom and two symmetrical twin cabins with single beds. The crew's quarters, located astern on the lower deck comprise two cabins with a total of four beds. The owner's suite is situated on the main deck in the bows of the deckhouse and enjoys wonderful views thanks to its large windows. This deck also houses the roomy saloon dedicated to leisure time where the owner and his guests have comfortable seating and multimedia systems at their disposal. The dining area is separated from the living room, with the large galley in yet another separate area amidships. On the upper deck there is the inside command bridge, developed across the full beam of the upper works, complete with all the necessary instrumentation for long cruises and with windows in the bows and along the sides to ensure the skipper an all round view of the horizon. The area astern on this deck offers a generous open-air terrace over the sea, aft of which we find an extension for storing the two tenders, with a davit for manoeuvring them. The flying bridge is equipped with permanent bimini to let it to be used comfortably in all weathers. The boatyard has chosen a couple of diesel Caterpillar C 18 DITA engines that permit the Moonen 96 to sail at a cruising speed of 13 knots with an autonomy of 3,500 sea miles at a speed of 9 knots according to the yard's estimates.

This Dutch boatyard expects to deliver the Moonen 96 to its owner around April 2005.
