HOLLAND JACHTBOUW "CASSIOPEIA"

Holland Jachtbouw recently launched its 32.09 metre "Cassiopeia", the first motor yacht in the history of this Dutch boatyard. Produced for a United States owner, "Cassiopeia" was designed by the naval architect Bill Langton of Langan Design Associates Inc., based in Newport, Rhode Island. Bill Langton's drawing board has given us an elegant yacht, typically American in style and with a fairly conservative design, able to sail at an official speed of 27 knots, thanks to its powerful MTU motorisation and a successful semi-displacing bottom. Robust resistant aluminium has been used for the hull and the upper works, enabling displacement to be limited to around 104,000 kg. Division of the interiors puts the sleeping area wholly on the lower deck. The owner's cabins and those for his guests are in the main area while the crew's quarters are located in the bows and have separate access. The owner has a roomy suite at his disposal with a corner for relaxing, an office, dressing-room and bathroom, while guests have two identical cabins with twin beds, each one with its own bathroom. The sleeping area for the crew is made up of two cabins offering a total of four beds. The main deck is divided up into two sections, with the command bridge cabin in the middle and slightly raised compared to the deck. The bows offer plenty of dining space, complete with roomy galley and lounge area. The solution adopted by the Dutch boatyard is unusual; that of a full beam lounge astern meaning that the outside bow area of the deck can only be accessed via the dining area. Continuing outside, the main deck also features a roomy cockpit with all-round seating, while going up to the flying bridge we find the second command station, a relaxation area with room dedicated to sun worshippers and in the stern area a platform for a tender and davit. Another two small auxiliary boats can be housed in the special hangar inside the transom.
