BESENZONI'S WATERTIGHT DOOR
Besenzoni introduced his watertight porthole at the last
"Seatec" meeting in Marina di Carrara adding it to his catalogue
for the first time. The company had always produced frames,
though, for internal use. The watertight door is produced in
compliance to Rina's specifics and with the use of water
resistant materials such as brass, polyethylene, stainless steel
and aluminium. Pre sale experiments have seen it tested on a 3
metre panel for 60 minutes. The doors are made watertight by
matching the aluminium frames placed on either side of the door
down to the finest part of a millimetre, thanks to precise
welding of the seams and to the polymeric and silicone
materials used. These factors allow for the yacht to be washed
without running the risk of water seeping in. The opening and
closing pressure of the door can be adjusted by a stainless
steel cone shaped hinge. The watertight door lasts in time too
because it undergoes a painting treatment with a particular
polyester in a 220° oven which protects it from corrosive elements.
Besenzoni, in addition to technical aspects, has always taken
care of looks and design specially in the super yacht segment
where nothing is left to chance. Being lodged along the
passageway, the new door has been pleasantly designed and made
flush as not to interfere with the passage.
